These "Happy Thanksgiving" cards are a fun craft for you to create and a way for you to bring joy to the person you send them to. Is there someone you know that can be made happy by a card from you?

Directions for Crayon & Pencil Cards:

  1. Fold your sheet of paper in half width-wise. Put a leaf inside, vein side up, and close the paper over it.
  2. Use your crayon or colored pencil and gently rub over the leaf. You’ll see the leaf become visible on the paper as you rub back and forth over it on the paper. You can even switch colors of crayon or pencil halfway through the leaf to create a two-color leaf.
  3. Then repeat the process if you want more then one leaf.

Directions for Paint Cards:

  1. If you want to paint, remember to get your parents help setting up a safe painting area with newspaper to work on.
  2. You can brush a little bit of paint onto the vein side of the leaf. You can use one or more colors of paint.
  3. Then press the leaf, paint side down, onto the paper. If you move the leaf around on the paper after it is down it will smear. Try this on a regular piece of paper before puting it onto your card so you can get the feel of how much paint is best.
  4. Allow time for it to dry.

Directions to Finish the Cards:

  1. Add “Happy Thanksgiving” to the cover.
  2. Send your card as is, or cut it out and paste it onto colorful construction paper.
  3. Put a special message inside to someone you love, or use it as a placeholder card on your table on Thanksgiving Day!
