Hey kids, here’s a great idea for a Bird Feeder you can make in just a few minutes! It’s simple, and the birds will love your treat! Think about ways you can add your own special touch, too!
Here’s what you’ll need:
  • Donut-shaped cereal – like Cheerio’s (but it’s probably not good to give them the sugar-covered variety)
  • Yarn
Instructions:
  1. Cut off a piece of yarn – probably a couple of feet long, and tie one end around a pencil, pen or something that will keep your cereal from falling off the end.
  2. Next, string the cereal onto the yarn until the whole string is filled up.
  3. Untie the pencil at the end, and tie the ends of the string together.
  4. Hang your Bird Feeder String from a branch outside a window, and watch as your feathered friends come in for a treat!
Optional:
  • Try rolling your finished cereal string in peanut butter (but be careful not to make a mess!)
  • If you have a large needle, thread the yarn onto it, and try “sewing” some apple chunks or cranberries with your cereal. Use your imagination, but be sure that it’s healthy for the birds!
