Hey kids, here’s a great way to make a great sign out of popsicle sticks – and it’s great fun, too! Just hang it anywhere your parents will let you! Check it out.
What you’ll need:
- 13 popsicle sticks
- white glue
- a foot of yarn – any color
- acrylic paints (pick your favorite colors!)
- a paint brush
What you do:
- Lay out some newspaper on the table, so you don’t get glue or paint on it.
- Now lay out 11 popsicle sticks next to each other on the table, with the curved edges at the top and bottom. They should fit snugly together, side by side.
- Next, take one of the other two sticks and put a small bead of glue on one of the flat sides – all the way across.
- Stick it to the other 11 sticks, about ½ inch from the bottom.
- Tie the ends of the yarn around the two ends of the other popsicle stick.
- Put glue across one side and stick it about ½ inch from the top of the sign.
- When the glue dries, turn it over and you’ll have a whole sign you can paint on.
- Use your imagination to dress up your sign. Some of the fun signs we’ve seen say things like, “Mom’s Kitchen,” or “Knock First,” or even “Home Sweet Home!”
- Paint a couple of flowers or bugs, or whatever you want to “dress it up!”
It makes a great gift for someone, too!
