Have you ever wished you could see underwater without sticking your head in it? Ever wished you could explore that underwater world – tadpoles, pretty pebbles and tiny fish—without getting too wet? How about those feathery little plants that grow on the bottom of the creek?
Here’s a great idea for an Underwater Scope that’s easy to make—and it works, too!

What You Need:
- medium-sized plastic tub with a snap lid (like a small butter tub)
- plastic wrap
What You Do:
- Cut out the bottom of the tub.
- Cut away the inside of the plastic top, leaving only the rim.
- Stretch your plastic wrap over the large end, and snap the rim back in place, securing the plastic in place.
Your Underwater Scope is now ready! Push the end with the plastic wrap into the water and you can check out all those critters and things swimming around your toes! Your viewer will even magnify things! Why? Because the water pushes up against the plastic wrap and makes it concave—like a magnifying glass! Have fun!
