Wanna make some really cool “Crazy Crabs?” It’s really easy and you can make one for each of your friends!
  What You Need:
  • old newspapers
  • paper egg carton (not plastic or foam)
  • scissors
  • acrylic paint
  • paint brush
  • 2 “chenille” pipe cleaner stems
  • craft glue (we recommend the Tacky Glue brand)
  • googly eyes

  What You Do:
1. Spread the old newspapers on a flat working surface. Be careful not to get anything on your mother’s kitchen table!

2. Cut out three of the cup sections from your egg carton and trim them so that they have an even edge.

3. Paint the outside of one of your egg cups with your favorite color of acrylic paint. Put it aside and let it dry.

4. While the paint is drying on your “Crazy Crab,” take two “chenille” pipe cleaner stems and cut them in the following sizes:
two 6-inch pieces
two half-inch pieces
eight 1.5-inch pieces

5. When the paint is dry, turn your crab “body” upside down, and glue the eight 1.5-inch pieces to the edges—four to a side. Be sure to use lots of glue. You don’t want your crab legs to fall off!

6. Take the two 6-inch pieces of chenille stem and bend them to look like crab pincers.

7. Glue the pincers to the crab as shown in the photo above. Use the extra egg cups you’ve cut out to hold up the pincers as they’re drying. Make sure the glue has dried completely before continuing.

8. Bend each of the 8 “legs” up, giving each leg a knee. Then turn the whole body over and glue the two remaining half-inch pieces to his “head” just above the pincers.

Glue googly eyes onto the tips of the half-inch pipe cleaner sections you just glued on.

Enjoy your “Crazy Crab!” They make great gifts.
Make them in different colors. Add your own touch—glitter, sequins, beads—use your imagination!
