You’re sure to have loads of fun as you paint your very own Ladybug Rocks! They’re simple to make, and you can have lots of different sizes. All it takes is a little time and some imagination!

What You Need:
|
|
|
- Several smooth round or oval rocks
- Acrylic craft paint in your choice of bright colors
- Black acrylic craft paint
- Small paintbrush
- Black permanent marker
- White glue
- 2 wiggle eyes for each ladybug
- Matte acrylic sealer spray
- Newspaper

What You Do:
|
|
|
- Choose your rocks (riverbeds are a great place to look).
- Carefully wash and dry all your rocks.
- Spread out your newspaper so you don’t get paint all over the place! (Moms and Dads will probably appreciate it if you paint outside somewhere.)
- Paint each rock a bright color, then let it dry completely. You may need to apply several coats of paint. Make sure it dries between coats.
- Paint the ladybug “head” by using your black acrylic paint. (Just paint one end of the rock.)
- After it dries, use your black permanent marker to draw a straight line down the middle of your ladybug’s back, starting at the middle of her “head.”
- Dip the end of your paint brush in black craft paint, and apply the spots to your ladybug’s “back,” reloading your brush with paint for every dot.
- Once the paint is dry, spray your rocks with acrylic sealer spray. Allow sealer to dry completely.
- Attach the wiggle eyes with your glue and let them dry.
Tips:
- Bigger rocks are easier for small hands to manage. You may want an adult to help the little ones.
- You can use white paint for the eyes, then dot them inside with paint.
