Here’s a special card you can make with your very own flowers! You might want to make several, and save one for someone’s birthday – especially if their birthday falls during the winter months!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Several sheets of white construction paper (for flower pressings)
- A piece of light-colored construction paper (for your background)
- A piece of flesh-colored construction paper (for your handprint)
- A small bouquet of wildflowers with stems and leaves (to be pressed)
- Pencil
- Glue
- Scissors

Directions:
- Pick a small bouquet of wildflowers with fairly long stems and leaves.
- Put them between sheets of construction paper and put the sheets between the pages of a large, heavy book (I’ve got a giant dictionary that works just fine). You’ll need to leave them there undisturbed for at least 4 or 5 days. When you check on them you’ll see that they have been pressed flat and have dried out. Now they’re ready to use.
- Draw an outline of your hand on the piece of skin-colored construction paper.
- Carefully cut out the outline of your hand.
- Glue the palm of the hand onto the light-colored construction paper background. Be careful not to glue down the fingers!
- Carefully glue your flower stems down onto the open palm of your handprint.
- Roll the fingers over and glue the fingertips to the palm of the handprint. This will make it look like a handful of flowers!
- Write a special message onto the background paper. It makes a great gift for someone you love, and it will remind them of the beautiful flowers that God makes for our enjoyment!
