Hey kids, here’s a great recipe to make your very own homemade Glitter Dough! It’s fun, and inexpensive. And if you put it in a plastic bag or container, it’ll last a long time!
WARNING: Parental Guidance Required
Kids, don’t eat this dough! It’s really, really salty, and not good for you! (Don’t let your baby sister eat it either! Or the dog! YUCK!) Also, please have an adult help you with the cooking part, so you won’t get burned!

What you need:
|
|
|
- 3 cups white flour
- 1½ cups salt
- 4 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 3 cups water
- 6 tsp cream of tartar
- Your favorite color of glitter (you’ll need lots of it!)
- Your favorite food coloring

|
|
What you do:
|
|
|
- Combine the flour, cream of tartar, and salt in a large pot. Then add the water, oil, and food coloring.
- Mix until there are no lumps in the dough and the color is even throughout.
- Keep stirring constantly over medium heat until the mixture forms a ball and starts to pull away from the sides of the pan.
- Let it cool, then knead the glitter into the clay. To do this, you will want to flatten your dough out on a countertop, then pour some glitter over it. Then fold it over and keep kneading it. Add more glitter and repeat the process until your dough looks glittery.
- Use it to make cool things – animals, people, whatever you can imagine!
- When you store it, make sure you put it in a resealable plastic bag, or maybe an empty plastic container. Either way, make sure it’s sealed tightly so it doesn’t dry out!
Have fun!
