Hey Kids, here’s a great craft that you can make with some simple
objects. It’s a beautiful Leaf Turkey! Try to find the most colorful
leaves, and your turkey will be brighter than ever!
|
|
|
Here’s what you’ll need:
|
|
|
- 15 – 20 fall leaves
- Medium sized pinecone
- Paper
- Crayons
- Red Felt (optional)
- Googly Eyes (optional)
- Scissors
- Craft Glue
|
|
|
Here’s what you do:
|
|
|
- Get outside and go find some of the most colorful fall leaves you
can. To make things easier, you might want to use all the same types of
leaves, although you don’t have to! As long as they’re pretty, they’ll
work just fine.
- Optional: You can press your leaves between the pages of a book
for a few days before you do your craft if you want to. This will keep
them from curling and might make it easier for you to glue them down.
- Glue your leaves on a piece of paper in a spreading “peacock” shape – like a turkey when it’s strutting!
- Now you’re ready to put your turkey’s head on. Glue the pinecone
to the bottom of the leaves – and be sure to use lots of glue! You
don’t want his head falling off!
- Cut two “eyes” out of paper, and color the middle part in with
your favorite crayon. You can also use two “googly eyes” instead. Glue
the eyes onto the pinecone.
- His “gobble” goes on next. You can cut it of red felt, or you can just use paper and color it red if you want.
- Don’t forget his beak! Cut a small triangle out of paper and color it orange or yellow.
Your craft would look great on the refrigerator door, or even as
a centerpiece at your thanksgiving meal! Remember to thank Jesus for
the beauty of fall, and for the wonderful animals He makes – like the
turkey!
